Benefits of Breastfeeding – Infographic

by

Breast milk provides nutrition for babies and has everything that a baby would need during the first six months of the baby’s life. It’s for this reason why a lot of health experts would advocate breastfeeding.

Below are some of the many benefits of breastfeeding:

  • Contains Essential Antibodies

When a mother gets exposed to bacteria or viruses, she will start producing antibodies, which help to keep the baby’s immune system strong.

  • Reduces Risk of Diseases

One of the biggest health benefits of breastfeeding is its ability to protect the baby against diseases. This is especially true if the baby is being breastfed exclusively with breast milk.

  • Promotes Healthy Weight

There’s an increasing rate of obesity among babies around the world. Studies show that the risk of obesity on babies breastfed is lower compared to babies fed with formula.

  • Makes the Child Smarter

Studies show that babies on breastfeeding have a higher intelligence score and are less likely to have behavioral and learning issues when they get older.

  • Helps the Uterus to Contract

Breastfeeding has the ability to increase the production of oxytocin, a hormone that causes the uterus to contract.

This helps to minimize blood loss after giving birth and helps the uterus to easily return to its original size.
