Obesity is now a global problem with millions of people affected. It’s common knowledge that obesity is caused by overeating. While that’s true, many other reasons may be involved too.
Well, here are some of them:
- Genetics
Obesity can be inherited from a parent to a child. Obese parents are more likely to have obese children, unless of course their obesity has got nothing to do with genes but overeating only.
It’s also important to note that genes do mutate or change a lot across generations. This means that it’s possible for a parent to be obese but for the child to escape the predicament.
- Junk Food
Eating junk food is the most common and by far the biggest cause of obesity globally. Junk foods are filled with chemicals.
They are designed to last longer on shelves so they are loaded with preservatives. Junk foods are also very addictive and eventually, you may find yourself eating too much. This leads to massive weight gain.
- Food Addiction
There are people who eat to cover for mental and psychological issues. It’s also very easy to become addicted to certain foods.
This appetite, especially when combined with sedentary life, will lead to massive weight gain.
