How To Get Rid Of Cellulite Fast (All In One Guide)

Last Updated: 3rd October 2016

You pretend not to notice.

You try to hide the pesky bumps of fat on your legs, buttocks, and abdomen and pretend they don’t exist.

Looking at your cellulite in the mirror doesn’t make you happy.

If you have stopped wearing shorts, skirts, or bikinis because of cellulite, you’re not alone.

Cellulite is one of the most common beauty problems women face.

However, there’s hope!

Chances are if you’re reading this article you want an effective way to vanish the fat from your butt, thighs, and belly.

Good news is you can remove cellulite.

However, there’s no magic pill, cream, or treatment that will vanish it in an instant.

Instead, I’ll give you a lifestyle formula that will guarantee you a cellulite-free skin in a matter of weeks.

First, let’s look at why cellulite happens:

What Is Cellulite?

CELLULITE FORMATION

Cellulite happens when fat cells underneath the skin push and squeeze through the fibers of connective tissue that connect your skin to your muscles, creating puckers on your skin.

Only because it’s made of fat cells, it doesn’t mean you’re fat. They’re only normal cells that have come to the surface.

It’s more common for women to suffer from cellulite for two reasons:

  • The structure of their connective tissue allows more room for the fat cells to push through than in men.
  • The estrogen in their bodies helps to create cellulite.

What Causes Cellulite?

Why, you ask, does fat have to surface at all? Why can’t it stay where it is?

Cellulite Happens When The Collagen In Your Skin Breaks Down.

Collagen is what keeps your fat cells underneath your skin. When you lose collagen, fat cells begin to surface.

The main culprits of collagen breakdown are:

Poor Blood Flow

1. Poor Blood Flow

When you have poor circulation on your skin, the collagen that makes up your connective tissue separates, giving fat cells a perfect opportunity to push to the surface.

Poor circulation can be triggered by:

Genetics: Poor circulation may run in your family.

Lack of physical activity: If you’re not active enough, your blood flow can slow down, especially if you work a desk job. When you sit at your computer for hours, the circulation in your lower body decreases significantly, creating the perfect scenario for cellulite to appear on your butt and thighs.

Poor diet: A diet rich in trans fats and sodium will slow down your circulation by increasing your blood pressure and blocking your arteries.

If you’re eating the Standard American Diet (SAD), then you’re at a high risk of several circulatory problems.

Obesity: Since cellulite is made up of fat cells, the more body fat you have, the more noticeable your cellulite will be.

ESTROGEN

2. Estrogen

Estrogen is meant to break down collagen in the female body. Its main role is to destroy collagen on the cervix when the woman gives birth so the baby can be delivered safely.

However, when your hormones break down excess collagen, cellulite can appear.

This is how estrogen creates cellulite:

  • Estrogen acts on your connective tissues.
  • Your connective tissues trigger collagenases (the enzymes that destroy collagen).
  • Collagenases break down collagen around fat cells.
  • Fat cells begin to push toward the surface of your skin.
  • Once they reach the surface, the fat cells enlarge.
  • When fat cells enlarge, they produce more fat cells.
  • Estrogen stimulates the formation of these new fat cells.

As you can see, estrogen not only breaks down collagen, but it also encourages the formation of more adipocyte cells.

3. Aging

Collagen is in charge of keeping your skin tight, smooth, and youthful. However, collagen decreases naturally as you age. This means your skin will lose elasticity and make room for fat cells to appear.

4. Toxins

Toxins are not a direct cause of cellulite, but they can worsen it.

The toxins trapped beneath your skin in your fibers and fat cells can make your skin appear more uneven and bumpier.

External toxins often get trapped in the adipocytes cells of your body. The more toxins your body retains, the worse your cellulite can become.

Formula To Get Rid Of Cellulite For Good

Now that we understand the causes of the orange peel look on your skin, we’re ready to attack them.

To get rid of cellulite once and for all, we need to tackle the four problems I mentioned above:

  • Poor blood flow
  • Excess estrogen
  • Aging
  • Toxins

Luckily for you, you can treat these problems easily.

1. Eat A Diet Rich In Whole Foods

Eating fresh fruits and veggies are the cure for almost anything.

A nutrient rich diet will improve your circulation, reduce total body fat, balance your hormones, aid waste elimination and protect your body from free radicals that cause early signs of aging.

In other words, it will attack all of the problems that cause cellulite.

The most nutritional whole foods are leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, and fruits.

A study published by the CDC ranked the most nutritious fruits and vegetables, or as they called them, Powerhouse Fruits and Vegetables (PFV) according to their nutrient density.

The top 10 Powerhouse Fruits and Vegetables were:

Item NutrientDensity Score
Watercress 100.00
Chinesecabbage 91.99
Chard 89.27
Beetgreens 87.08
Spinach 86.43
Chicory 73.36
Leaflettuce 70.73
Parsley 65.59
Romainelettuce 63.48
Collardgreen 62.49

The top 10 are all leafy greens, but after those, cruciferous vegetables and citrus fruits were also found beneficial.

I’ve found that the perfect way to include more greens in your diet and hit your nutritional requirements is by drinking green smoothies.

You can include cups of greens and veggies into one simple smoothie and still make it taste delicious.

To tackle your cellulite, focus on eating these whole foods:

Collagen Boosting Foods

Collagen is the protein responsible for keeping your skin tight and firm. To protect and boost your collagen levels, eat foods rich in:

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps to create collagen. The richest sources of vitamin E includesunflower seeds, almonds, spinach, swiss chard, avocado, peanuts, and turnip greens.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C also promotes collagen production and can slow it down if you don’t eat enough of it. The foods highest in vitamin C include guava, papaya, bell peppers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, strawberries, pineapple, oranges, and kiwi.

B-complex vitamins

B-complex vitamins are also important to keep your collagen levels up. The best sources of B vitamins include leafy greens, fish, nuts, beans, broccoli, and peas.

Protein

Of course, you need to consume protein to keep your collagen levels up. Rich protein sources include quinoa, eggs, bone broth, tuna, soybeans, salmon, beans, chickpeas, tofu, sardines, and lentils.

Circulation-Boosting Foods

Foods rich in dietary nitrates can improve your blood pressure and circulation by increasing nitric oxide (NO) in your circulatory system, a molecule that is in charge of dilating your blood vessels and improving blood flow.

In other words, if you want better circulation you need more nitric oxide!

The foods richest in dietary nitrates are cilantro, arugula, dandelion greens, beet greens, celery, and spinach.

Hormone Balancing Foods

HORMONE BALANCING FOOD

Since excess estrogen activity is one of the main culprits of cellulite, you need to eat in a way that balances your hormones.

Your gut is the first place you need to address to keep your endocrine system in check.

The best way to eat for hormone balance is to eat a balanced meal. Ideally, you want your plate to look like this:

  • One portion of healthy protein
  • One portion of healthy fats
  • Plenty of fresh vegetables

Healthy protein: Clean proteins include salmon, tuna, chickpeas, lentils, beans, and quinoa.

Healthy fats: Heart-healthy fats include coconut oil, grass-fed butter, avocados, and eggs.

Fresh vegetables: You can pick any vegetables you have in your fridge. Leafy greens, onions, bell pepper, sweet potatoes, beets, and many others are fantastic for your skin and hormones.

2. Fat Burning Exercises

Now that we’re done with your diet let’s dive into the best exercises that will banish your cellulite.

Exercising will increase blood flow, burn fat, tone your skin, and even balance your hormones.

Cardio

RUNNING FOR CARDIO

Cardio is one of the best exercises to burn fat quickly and increase circulation.

However, don’t do only cardio. This is one mistake many women make when they start to exercise.

Compliment it with strength training and other exercises to improve your results.

You can do cardio in many different ways. Pick the exercise you like the most and start sweating:

  • Running
  • Biking
  • Treadmill
  • HIIT
  • Swimming
  • Skipping rope
  • Aerobics
  • Kickboxing

Here’s a quick HIIT cardio routine that will get your heart rate up in only 16 minutes. I’ve personally tried it, and it works so well:

Lower Body Exercises

LOWER BODY EXERCISES

Lower body exercises will target the cellulite in your legs, butt, and thighs.

The most effective butt and leg exercises include:

  • Squats (all variations)
  • Lunges
  • Burpees
  • Deadlifts
  • Kettlebell training

Here’s a complete brutal lower body routine (with or without weights) you can follow at home (this is one of my favorites):

Yoga

YOGA

Yoga is a less intense exercise that will focus on improving circulation. The deep breaths and asanas you do in your practice will help your system detox and improve your circulatory system.

Remember cellulite can be worsened by poor circulation and toxins? Yoga helps you beat both!

Any yoga routine will be helpful for your blood flow and detoxification, but if you want to target your glutes and thighs, hip openings will help you work on those areas.

Here’s an easy 20-minute hip opening yoga sequence you can do at home:

3. Skin Care Routines

These are the most effective skincare routines to get rid of cellulite for good:

Finally, to complement the cellulite busting diet and exercises, you can do skincare routines that will attack your cellulite externally.

Dry Brushing

Brushing your skin once a day with a dry brush will increase circulation, exfoliate, get rid of dead skin cells, eliminate toxins, break down fatty deposits, improve your skin complexion, and firm your skin.

Here’s how to do it:

What you’ll need:

– A long, natural bristle body brush.

Method:

When your skin is dry, preferably before you shower, brush your skin in a gentle circular motion towards the heart. Since you want to get rid of cellulite, focus on the areas that have the fattiest deposits. When you’re done, your skin should feel silky soft.

That’s it! It’s that simple.

Here’s a video of how to do it:

Coffee Wraps

COFFEE WRAPS

Coffee will energize and exfoliate your skin. It will also increase circulation and tighten your skin.

Here’s how to do it:

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup of coffee grounds, you can use the ones left in your coffee maker.
  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil.
  • Plastic wrap.

Method:

  • Mix the coffee and olive oil in a small mixing bowl.
  • In the shower, apply the mixture to your cellulite areas in a circular motion and exfoliate for one minute.
  • Once you finish exfoliating, wrap your cellulite areas with plastic wrap and leave the wrap on for 10 minutes.
  • If you’re in a hurry, you can skip the wrap and do only the exfoliation.
  • Once the time is up, rinse thoroughly and shower.

Detox Baths

Since toxins can aggravate cellulite, detox baths can be helpful.

Detox baths will draw out impurities from your system, including the ones hidden in your fatty deposits.

Here’s how to do them:

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup of Epsom salt.
  • 1/3 cup of sea salt.
  • 2 ½ teaspoons of ginger powder.
  • 1 cup of apple cider vinegar.
  • 1/3 cup of baking soda.
  • Any essential oil of your choice (optional).

Method:

  • Mix all the ingredients in a bath filled with warm water.
  • Get in and relax for at least 40 minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly and moisturize.

Even though cellulite is tricky to get rid of, you can beat it by optimizing your diet, exercise, and skincare routine.

A combination of these changes will eliminate cellulite for good and give you back the firm and glow skin you love and deserve.

Opting for natural homemade remedies is a better way to get rid of cellulite just because you won’t have to worry about side effects. Plus, these natural treatments are effective of which the outcome lasts long.
