About Dr. Karen Reed Ph. D.
Dr. Karen Reed grew up in Orange County with her family all having a background in the medical field. After observing her father who was an eye surgeon Dr. Reed became extremely interested in the health and medical industry. Her areas of interest include children’s health, sexual and reproductive health for women and nutrition. She’s continued to spend her time learning about health by exploring many different topics through her schooling. Karen received her doctoral degree in Pharmacology & Toxicology and has her bachelor’s degree with a major in Nutritional Sciences.
WhileDr. Reed might seem like a bookworm, she loves going to out ballroom dancing with her husband during the week. She finds she can let off steam as she tends to spend most of her days writing and researching content for her website Positive Health Wellness.
Dr. Reed loves to dive deep into diet and nutrition, weight loss and fitness discussions with her peers and really appreciates learning all about the health industry. She has two beautiful children and a husband that she lives with in New York. New York has always been on of Dr. Reed’s favourite places to live after she visited with her father when she was 16. She was overwhelmed by the opportunity it presented and what was possible. She saved up for 3 years straight to be able to buy her very own plane tickets and make her way to the big apple. Dr. Reed has always been a go getter and wants to over-achieve. She has a very competetive nature and loves a challenge.
Dr. Reed started working on Positive Health Wellness back in 2015 when she decided that spreading awareness in the health industry was one of her life missions. She’s built a tight knit community of health and wellness enthusiasts who look forward to growing together.
Dr. Reed is known for her empathetic but direct approach when working with people to improve their health choices in life. She’s been on the bring of burnout before and realizes how easy it is for someone to get close to having everything fall apart overnight. Dr. Reed recommends that everyone meditates at least once a day to find your inner balance. Even if it’s just for 5 minutes, meditation really helps you achieve peace and calm.
Dr. Reed On Diet & Nutrition
Dr. Reed knows that being at a healthy weight range is great for you. Not only for your heart but throughout your joints, hip, brain and overall wellness. It’s critical to make sure you’re not just feeding your body healthy food but it will also impact your emotional stability. When you lose weight, not only your confidence goes up, but your sleep improves, your enery goes up and you’ll feed amazing day to day. Mixing this with some good meditation is key. Karen recommends that a balance of fresh foods from farmer’s markets and even fresh supermarkets can hep your nutrition value.
To kick you off on this healthy journey, Dr. Reed recommends following a simple diet. None of the fads that are currently advertised on TV will do you any good if you don’t have the fundumentals in place when it comes to living and eating healthy. After getting her PHD, Dr. Reed researched all the different ways on eating clean and optimizing your body for healthy growth. She recommends starting with simple greens such as broccoli, beans, spinach and so fourth. The from there keeping carbohydrates to a minimum while increasing the intake of protein. Simple yet an effective way for anyone to diet and stay healthy right?
Dr. Reed Thoughts On Fitness
When it comes to fitness, there’s so many different ways to stay fit and healthy. Not matter if you like to go to the gym and lift weights, or if you like to stay home and work on your fitness in the private of your own home, staying fit and keeping to pounds off can be done in a number of ways. Dr. Reed always realizes that everyone is different and has different fitness goals. There’s no one box fits all solution for your fitness goals. You might be looking to go for a run around the block or you might enjoy leisurely walks! That’s the best part aboout staying fit and healthy!
Dr. Reed Thoughts On Pain Relief
This is a tricky topic, when it comes to pain relief, Dr. Reed recommends recovery and maintaining overall health no matter what. It’s critical that when you’re recovering or dealing with pain, no matter the type that you take care of your body and bring it back to 100%. We all experience pain or get sick, so keeping your immune system healthy and up to scratch during our busy lives is something that can be easily neglected. Karen is no different! She’s a stickler for making sure you get your full night’s sleep and really reward your body with rest to get back to 100%. She likes to think of your body as a car, if you don’t get it regularly services or feed it right, it’ll breakdown on you. And we only have 1 body! So we have to treat it right or we’ll ruin it.
